About Us

The study of chronic orofacial pain is the latest dental specialist discipline in the USA. Toothache is the most common form of pain in the orofacial region, but unfortunately there are other complex pain conditions of dental and non-dental origin which are more difficult to diagnose and treat. When these conditions are treated inappropriately great harm can be done to patients. It is the expressed goal of the SAAOFP to educate the profession and the public and to foster research and development in the field of chronic orofacial pain.
